About this run

The Numbers is Colorado's premier technical Class V run — a tight, boulder-choked gauntlet that earns its name from the sequential rapids labeled 1 through 6 (and beyond). Put in above Granite and brace for non-stop technical moves in a narrow channel with little margin for error. Lines are precise, eddies are small, and the consequence of a missed brace is immediate. This is the proving ground for Front Range paddlers chasing Class V credentials. Low water reveals more rock; high water turns it into a pushy, chaotic flush — both extremes demand respect.

Known Hazards

  • Continuous Class V boulder gardens — no rest between rapids
  • Pinning hazard in low water at multiple constrictions
  • High water above 700 CFS creates powerful hydraulics throughout
  • Cold runoff from the Collegiate Peaks — immersion gear mandatory
