About this run

The Rogue's Wild Section is Oregon's definitive multi-day river adventure — a 35-mile float through a federally designated Wild & Scenic corridor that has captivated paddlers since Zane Grey first wet a line here in the 1920s. Lodges dot the banks (a unique Oregon tradition), the fishing is legendary, and the whitewater is a sustained Class III-IV mix that builds to the powerful drops at Mule Creek Canyon and Blossom Bar. At current flows, Blossom Bar is firing at full Class IV — technical and boulder-choked, it separates the serious from the casual.

Known Hazards

  • Blossom Bar — Class IV boulder garden, multiple mandatory moves, scout first time
  • Mule Creek Canyon — narrow canyon, powerful hydraulics, no portage option
  • Rainie Falls — Class V mandatory portage on river right
  • Permit required for the Wild Section during the summer season
